Most nights of the week they run a £10 No Limit (Rebuy) event. Obviously this game is prevalent in the minds of the young and it’s this audience the club is aimed at.

The club itself is a single floor comprising of approx a dozen card tables, a small café area where free soft drinks, tea and coffee can be found along with the usual sandwiches & snacks (chargeable) and the usual bank of Internet terminals for those that can’t wait to play or just want to catch up on the latest news.

The Countries very best poker tour heads North again for leg 9 which is held in Blackpool’s G-Casino. Starting on the 8th of November 2008 the festival previously known as “The Northern Lights Poker Festival” host an amazing array of tournaments to suit all budgets.

The G-Casino itself located at the sandcastle is home to one of the very best poker rooms available, there is plenty of room and it’s well staffed especially when the GUKPT comes to town. The main event ith a buy of £1000 + £60 has 2 starting days of the 143h and 14th thursday/friday and start times of 2pm. the remaining players merge on the Saturday and the final table held on Sunday the 16th with lights camera’s and action.

Qualifiers for the main event are held on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of the festival week and start at 2pm. We all know of Yorkshire’s most famous poker player who is in fact the UK’s most celebrated and profitable tournament winner, but have you read the book by Des Wilson entitled “swimming with the devil fish?”

It’s a book that uncovers the life of a UK poker player and shows an amazing side to some of the countries best known players. It all kicks of with the background of our very own Dave “The Devil Fish” Ulliot who was a petty criminal ans safe cracker in the early years serving time in prison and shall we say on the wrong side of the law from time to time.

It’s a truly compelling read and a book which i feel should be read by every aspiring UK player to let you see what you could be letting yourself in for

The book covers the story of many professionals including devil fish, the hendon mob, John Gale, Willie Tann, Andy Black, Steve Vlader, Xuyen Pham, Gentleman Liam Flood, Donnacha O’Dea, Jeff Duvall, Carlo Citrone, Roy Brindley, Simon “Aces” Trumper, Dave Colclough and many more.

Cash games and tournaments are featured from around the World, Paris, Barcelona and the World series in Las Vegas plus give history of the old time spielers in the Uk such as the infamous Barry’s in the Midlands.

It really is a great read and i personally found it very difficult to out down, i actually read it this year in Cornwall when we took the kids on a 3 week camping trip, the weather was dismal and on one of the many trips to the nearest wh smiths for more pens and paper to keep them entertained i found the book. I read it in 2 days and stayed awake until 5am reading by torch light on day 2. I would highly recommend this book to anyone, even if they don’t play poker!
